Lash and Brow Technique

Monofusion

Elleebana founder Otto Mitter's technique for combining the Step 2 setting lotion and tint at a 1:1 ratio, so oxidative setting and color develop together in one controlled phase, for lashes and brows.

What Monofusion Is

Monofusion is Elleebana's name for its refined, chemistry-led take on one-step lamination. After the hair is reduced, cleansed of residue and positioned, the Step 2 setting lotion and the tint are mixed 1:1 and applied together, so oxidation, color development and the final set happen in the same stage.

It is not skipping Step 2. The hydrogen peroxide setting chemistry still does its job, as part of a controlled tint-and-set phase. Monofusion is a technique, not a product, and not a self-neutralizing formula.

It feels efficient because the prep is disciplined, not because steps are rushed. Leftover Step 1 interferes with oxidation and color, coverage has to be deliberate at the base and the tips, and every set and spot-color check has to stay visible.

Monofusion Products

Brik & Pearl and Elleeplex Profusion, Belmacil tint, flat and hybrid shields, and prep. Infinity Aqua Drops is for brow Monofusion only.

The Process

How Monofusion Works on Lashes

1

Reduce on a flat shield

Step 1

Lashes are balmed and wrapped onto a flat shield and softened with Step 1, then Step 1 is dry-removed thoroughly.

2

Clean transition

Step 1.5

With Brik & Pearl, a thin layer of Lash Life Volume Filler for about a minute supports residue removal and pH, then is dry-removed completely.

3

Re-wrap and mix

Step 2 + tint

Lashes are re-wrapped onto a hybrid shield to set the final direction, then Step 2 and tint are mixed 1:1, packed at the base and feathered to the tips.

4

Check and finish

Set and color

Set and spot-color checks decide readiness, not the clock. After removal and rinsing, Lash Life Volume Filler returns as a leave-on finish.

Lash Life Volume Filler is never mixed into the tint and setting lotion. Shield size is still chosen for each client. Follow each product's current directions, contraindications and patch-testing requirements. Processing times are guides: judge readiness with flex and set checks, not the clock.

Tints and Systems

What Works for Monofusion

Lift systems

Brik & Pearl and Elleeplex Profusion both give a controlled window with enough Step 2 contact time for the tint. Elleebana One Shot's fast chemistry is not ideal.

Lash tint

Belmacil is the preferred tint for lash Monofusion, because it works for both lashes and brows.

Brow tint

Belmacil is preferred. Infinity Aqua Drops is also an option for brows, developed by the Step 2 setting lotion. It is not used on lashes: it is too thin, even when thickened, and was not developed for eyelashes.

Not used

RefectoCil is never used for Monofusion: the line carried here cannot be mixed into the setting lotion. Belmacil Crème Oxydant and the Infinity oxidizers are not used either, because the Step 2 setting lotion is the developer.

Brows

Monofusion for Brows

Monofusion Brows is an advanced brow lamination method built the same way: Step 1 reduces the hair so the brow can be redirected, residue is removed thoroughly, the hairs are placed in their final direction, and then the Step 2 setting lotion and tint are mixed 1:1 and applied together. Setting is not removed. It is brought together with color.

What changes on brows is tone. A brow can be redirected beautifully and still look wrong if the color is too warm, too heavy or uneven, so plan the tone before you mix: undertone, grey percentage, hair diameter and porosity, previous color and the chosen shade all affect the result. Naturally warm or golden brows may need a neutral or ash adjustment; fine or porous hair can develop faster and deeper; coarse or grey hair may take color slowly or unevenly.

Shape the brow to the client's growth pattern and face rather than laminating it flat, and never chase depth by processing longer. Tone correction starts with assessment, formula choice and controlled checking. Only use tint and setting lotion combinations that are tested and approved for the method.

Training

Learn Monofusion Properly

Elleebana founder Otto Mitter developed Monofusion and taught it in a hands-on certification masterclass at LashCon San Diego in September 2026.

Monofusion is an advanced professional method, and the coaching belongs in the room, not on a product page. For Elleebana training, talk to Reid Ryan, Polymorph Beauty's master educator.

Common Questions

Monofusion FAQ

Is Monofusion a product?

No. Monofusion™ is Elleebana's trademarked technique, not a product. It uses a lift or lamination system, a compatible tint and the tools you already stock, which is why this page gathers them in one place.

Does Monofusion skip Step 2?

No. The hydrogen peroxide setting lotion still does its job. It is simply mixed 1:1 with the tint so setting and color develop in one controlled phase. Nothing about it is self-neutralizing.

Which lift systems suit Monofusion?

Brik & Pearl and Elleeplex Profusion. Both give a controlled window with enough Step 2 contact time for the tint to develop evenly. Elleebana One Shot's fast chemistry is not ideal.

Which tints can be used?

Belmacil is the preferred tint because it works for both lashes and brows. Infinity Aqua Drops can also be used for brow Monofusion, developed by the Step 2 setting lotion, but not on lashes: it is too thin, even when thickened, and was not developed for eyelashes. RefectoCil is never used for Monofusion. No separate developer is added either, so Belmacil Crème Oxydant and the Infinity oxidizers (Infinity Hybrid Tint Oxidizer and Infinity Liquid Tint Spray Oxidizer) are not used: the Step 2 setting lotion is the developer.

Which shields are used on lashes?

Two, in sequence: a flat shield for the Step 1 reduction, then the lashes are re-wrapped onto a hybrid shield for the Step 2 and tint phase. Shield size is still chosen for each client.

Can Lash Life Volume Filler be mixed into the tint?

No. It is used on its own for about a minute as a Step 1.5 and fully dry-removed, then again as a leave-on finish. Mixing it in would dilute the tint and setting lotion.

How is brow Monofusion different?

The same 1:1 setting and tint phase applies, but tone matters more. Plan the tone before mixing, shape the brow to its growth pattern rather than laminating it flat, and never chase depth by processing longer.

Do I need training before offering Monofusion?

Yes. It is an advanced professional method. For Elleebana training, talk to Reid Ryan, Polymorph Beauty's master educator.
